These Czech glass vases have been around for at least 130 years, and don’t have a single chip, which is incredible, because they’re light as air. They have lost most of their gilt painting in the floral motif around the middle, and some of the flashed red glass layer (the red is not painted, it’s a less than millimeter thick layer of glass “flashed” on to a clear piece, allowing for etching) is not in the best condition. The pontil (the place where the rod meets the glass) is not sanded, so these were never high quality pieces. But they are beautiful, and they have lived through so much, and are now very rare. They measure 7” tall and 3.5” wide. Let’s see if they can’t live another 100 years at least.
