Late 19th/Early 20th Century Tole Tray w/ Gold Ribbon and Handpainted Flowers

Late 19th/Early 20th Century Tole Tray w/ Gold Ribbon and Handpainted Flowers

$20.00

I am a lover and collector of tole trays; big or small. Tole has been around since the 17th century, a method of using sheet metal and forms with rolled edges to create trays and boxes. This one is quite old, I would guess 1890-1920. The gold ribbon is stenciled, and the flowers are handpainted. There’s quite a bit of wear to the flowers, and there’s some fine, dark paint spatter here and there from some later accident in this piece’s life. Measures 6” wide, 4.5” tall, and about .5” high.
