I don’t remember where I get most of my pieces, I wind up hitting thrift stores and garage sales on my way home from art fairs, and it’s all a blur. But I remember when I found this one, and its counterpart, the floral “Barbara” mug, both with the names written in Germanic script. I was driving home from a show in Minneapolis and wound up in this small town. There was a little blue house, and a shed, with a sign inviting people to go through it. It was quite clear this was a permanent jumble sale situation. On a table out front, the Kevin and Barbara mugs, dusty, half full of water from a recent rain. They were the only things I saw that I liked, so I went to the door of the blue house and was invited inside by a small white haired lady. Her dogs jumped all over me, licked me, and a cat sought affection. I paid for my mugs, and was back on my way. She wasn’t Barbara, and had no knowledge of who Kevin and Barbara were. I think there’s something special about these mugs. Kevin is in great condition, with his Model-T. Barbara has a small imperfection inside the mug that will not affect use. Measures 3.75” tall and 4.5” wide.
